EUAM Iraq, in partnership with the CADMO Center of the University for Foreigners of Siena, organised a three-day training and exchange of views on cultural heritage in Italy for Iraqi counterparts from the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency (FIIA) and the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage (SBAH).
The programme combined academic expertise with field visits, covering new perspectives in cultural heritage studies, strategies for conservation, and combatting illicit trafficking.
Participants engaged with Italian professors and researchers in Siena and Florence, visiting institutions such as the Carabinieri Cultural Heritage Protection Unit, the Uffizi Museum, and the National Archaeological Museum of Florence.
The visit concluded at San Casciano dei Bagni, where participants explored an excavation site and examined innovative approaches to archaeological conservation and sustainable tourism.
This exchange not only reinforced Iraq’s cultural heritage protection capacities but also contributed to deepening international cooperation and sharing methodologies to safeguard and promote cultural heritage.
EUAM Iraq continues to support Iraq in protecting its precious cultural heritage, aligning national frameworks with international standards, and fostering partnerships to preserve this shared legacy for future generations.
