“'Inspire inclusion’ is the global theme of International Women's Day 2024. Promoting and empowering women in all areas create peaceful and inclusive societies and ensure a prosperous and just economy," said Anders Wiberg, Head of EUAM Iraq, in his opening speech.

Women representatives from various Iraqi government departments accepted EUAM Iraq's invitation to a celebration and networking event to strengthen integration. The event provided an opportunity to discuss working conditions in their respective fields. One crucial outcome was, that trusting women to take leading roles within their institutions is key for fostering inclusion and increasing women’s participation.

The Mission's strategic advisers gained insights into the work of their female Iraqi counterparts.

This helps the Mission to provide the best possible support to Iraq in reforming an inclusive security sector. The event in Baghdad followed an International Women's Day celebration in Erbil, where the Mission has a permanent Presence.
