Workshop on conflict mitigation through dialogue and negotiation in policing

EUAM Iraq carried out a series of workshops held for high-ranking police officers from Halabja police department in Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan region during the last months. 

The workshop series have been developed together with the Iraqi counterparts and focused on conflict mitigation through dialogue and negotiation with the following topics: Policing protests using strategic conflict reducing principles, the use of force during demonstrations, dialogue, negotiations during policing protests, the use of social media and need of standard operating procedures. 

“The fruitful discussions and engagement of the participants proved that the topics met their needs. We were also very happy to share our experiences from Sweden and Denmark with them”, summarised the strategic advisors of EUAM Iraq. 

EUAM Iraq maintains a presence in Erbil in the autonomous region of Kurdistan in the north of Iraq to support the civilian security forces.
