Intelligence-led policing concerns all actors in the security sector who are responsible for protecting people and communities. It is about sharing and utilising information, developing a common understanding of the situation and being able to make the right decisions. The participants from Baghdad, Basra, Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Dohuk also discussed the challenge of information overload for security providers.
“The key to intelligence-led policing is inter-agency cooperation. This workshop brought together participants from police departments, but also from authorities such as the Federal Intelligence Service, the Anti-Drugs Directorate, and the Anti-Money Laundring/Countering the Financing of Terrorism,” summarised the Senior Strategic Adviser of EUAM Iraq.
