In collaboration with the High Council for Women, EUAM Iraq organised a workshop for female police officers in Erbil.
The workshop focused on practical experiences and the role of women in the police in Europe and Iraq. Senior police advisers from EUAM Iraq reported on their work in Europe and how they have managed their careers and families. They also shared their observations on the role of women in the police service and other state institutions during the last 30 years.
Together with the participants, they reflected on cultural and historical differences and common experiences between Iraq and Europe. UN Resolution 1325 (Women, Peace and Security) was discussed and the need for women's participation in security sector reform.
The Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Region thanked the participants for their commitment and dedication to the population.
